Special Olympics Minnesota (SOMN) college clubs and programs connect college students and people with intellectual disabilities through shared experiences. Together, college students and SOMN athletes can work together to build friendships and campus communities that help lead the social inclusion movement.

College clubs and programs have the opportunity to schedule monthly club meetings with SOMN athletes, play Unified intramurals, attend leadership seminars and more!

NCAA Division III partnership

The Division III Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) initiated the NCAA Division III partnership at the 2011 NCAA Convention and officially launched the partnership on August 1, 2011. The purpose of the partnership is to enhance the lives of Division III student-athletes and Special Olympics athletes through a mutual learning experience; provide a platform for recognition of Special Olympics athletes and Division III student-athletes within their communities; and raise awareness of Special Olympics, its programs and services.

Special Olympics Minnesota is grateful to partner with the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) and the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) and their member schools. Their student-athletes and Student-Athlete Advisory Committees have provided volunteers, hosted Unified Sports events on campuses, and other countless opportunities to the Special Olympics Minnesota community over the years.
